Shortly after law school, Lee interviewed with Paul McEllistrem in an attempt to convince him to hire Lee as an associate attorney. Representing individuals hurt by someone else seemed consistent with his ideals. The recommendation at the time was for Lee to get a job doing defense work and reapply in five years. That was over 25 years ago! Since that time, Lee has spent close to 30 years working on the defense side with insurers, railroad companies and trucking companies. He has handled litigation in numerous areas of personal injury and tried cases involving automobile accidents, slip and falls, railroad accidents and trucking accidents.

A recent experience representing a child involved in a catastrophic trucking accident and the successful resolution of that case triggered a powerful reaction that led Lee to reevaluate his career. After all, he had gone to law school with the goal of helping injured people. It is time to make that goal a reality. Luckily, Paul and his partners agreed.

Lee also is a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and available to mediate cases involving personal injury including automobile, general liability, railroad, and trucking. During his years as a defense attorney, Lee had the honor of handling many mediations as the neutral. He is planning to take on mediations as a part of his transition to working as a plaintiff’s attorney.

Lee and his wife, Jennifer, live in St. Paul and enjoy spending time with their dogs, Percy and Winnie, and cheering on the Golden Gophers.
